DeBartolo Sees Mixed-Use Project Opening in 2008
Release Date:
July 9, 2008 MESA, AZ--DeBartolo Development LLC plans to open the first phase of its 114-acre Mountain Vista Marketplace in summer 2008. The project is planned for a site at the northwest corner of Signal Butte and US Route 60, where DeBartolo proposes to build a mixed-use retail center with a Super Target as its anchor. Tom Nagy, VP of marketing with DeBartolo, tells GlobeSt.com that the plan is to build the Mountain Vista project in two phases, a first phase of 350,000 sf and a second of 200,000 sf. In addition to its retail, the project also could include one or two hotels and about 380 multifamily units, but the details for those components are still being finalized. According to Erin Nellis, senior development officer for the Tampa-based DeBartolo Development's Phoenix office, DeBartolo has been working closely with city officials to address the last issues facing the project, which it hopes to resolve soon. Assuming that the city and the developer get those details ironed out, DeBartolo is aiming for an opening in late summer of next year. In addition to Super Target, DeBartolo has preliminarily lined up Marshalls, Old Navy, Petco, Shoe Pavilion, Bank of America and Dick's Sporting Goods as tenants in the new development. Nagy tells GlobeSt.com that the development firm is "very optimistic and very enthusiastic about the restaurants and shops" that will be part of the Mountain Vista Marketplace, and he is hopeful that the company will soon be able to announce the names of some restaurants and additional shops. Nellis says factors driving the project include new housing starts coupled with the completion of several highway projects that have escalated job growth in the metro area surrounding the development site. "We are basically taking a suburban area and creating a lifestyle hub within it," Nellis says. The City of Mesa and DeBartolo are working to make the complex as pedestrian-friendly as possible, with easily accessible walkways throughout the project. The mixed-use center is proposed to connect with and complement the nearby Mountain Vista Medical Center.
News Article By Globest.Com DeBartolo to Begin Phase II in Meadowlands Town Center
Release Date:
August 28, 2007 CHARDON, OH -- DeBartolo Development LLC is pleased to announce that they have begun site work for the second phase of their Meadowlands Town Center project located in Chardon, Ohio. This project will be a continuation of Phase I which includes Home Depot and Super Wal*Mart as the anchor store. This Super Wal*Mart center is the only store within the area bounded by the Pennsylvania state line to the east. Traveling south one must go to Middlefield, about 13 miles away to find another Super Wal-Mart, all of which creates a significant draw to the property. Chardon is located at the intersection of I-44 and Route 6. The closest significant retail marketplaces are the Mentor area which is 20 minutes away to the north and the Mayfield/I-271 intersection to the west which is 26 minutes away. With this draw, it is no wonder that the Phase II section of this center is already 90% leased. As of right now, signed leases for the space provided have been agreed upon with Staples, Best Cuts by Regis, Sally Beauty, Shoe Show, Home Savings and Loan and Fashion Bug. "We at DeBartolo Development are delighted to continue the construction of Meadowlands Town Center. DeBartolo to Develop Apartment Community in Lakeland
Release Date:
July 30, 2007 LAKELAND, FL -- DeBartolo Development is proud to announce that they have begun site work for their Arbor Glen Apartment project in Lakeland, Florida on July 27th, 2007. This project will consist of 12, three-story buildings with 324 units of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms that will lie on 343,846 square feet of gross building area including a clubhouse, office and maintenance garage. Lakeland is centrally located between Tampa and Orlando. The area offers residents and visitors a wide variety of sports, entertainment, cultural and educational opportunities. LakelandÂ’s charm creates a beautiful blend of a small town feel with the convenience and amenities of much larger cities. Just this year, a Bizjournal study named Lakeland as one of the top 10 hottest labor markets in America. Lakeland has also received the distinction of being on Money Magazine's "Best Place to Live in America" list. The Arbor Glen Apartments will be located in Lakeland off of exit #33 on the I-4; SR33 is just south of this development. DeBartoloÂ’s market research indicated that there was a shortage of the "for rent" product in Lakeland as the market is extremely strong partly due to the population and job growth, but also due to the centralized location between Orlando and Tampa. In addition, they found that approximately 78,577 Polk County Residents commute from Polk to either Hillsborough (Tampa) or Orange County (Orlando) for employment purposes. This site is in an ideal location to capture these larger markets. "Due to the housing costs of Orlando and Tampa, we feel that this area of the interstate is a gateway to both cities. We are happy to have this opportunity to be a part of this project and to help the community at large," says Edward Kobel, President and COO of DeBartolo Development. Mall in Kapolei has fitting Name
Release Date:
May 29, 2007 HONOLULU--The developer of a planned regional mall in East Kapolei has named the project Ka Makana Ali'i, literally "royal gift," in recognition of the project site linked to Hawaiian royalty and leased from the state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands. Florida-based DeBartolo Development was selected by the Hawaiian Home Lands agency last year to build a regional mall on 67 acres near the planned University of Hawaii-West O'ahu campus. The project is envisioned for 1.1 million square feet of mixed-use space, including about 160,000 square feet of offices and a multi-plex movie theater, as well as two hotels with a combined total 300 rooms. Erin Nellis, a DeBartolo development manager, in a statement said the firm's research showed the project site was once deeded to Chiefess Kekauonohi, who was associated with the courts of kings Kamehameha I, Kamehameha II and Kamehameha III. Micah Kane, Hawaiian Homes Commission chairman, in a statement said the project's name is appropriate. "In Hawaiian culture, the ali'i had the responsibility to manage the land and its resources for the benefit of the entire community," he said. "(The project) will create a unique lifestyle for the residents of the area, and at the same time, provide revenue to help DHHL accomplish its mission of serving the Hawaiian community." Lease revenue will help the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands develop affordable housing for Hawaiians. The retail project is projected to open in late 2009. Article (PDF Format):
